UnionPay is a financial services corporation from China that provides banking and card transaction services. It offers payment solutions that are similar to MasterCard and Visa, including both mobile and online payments.
In Singapore, its brand awareness was overshadowed by more established competitors. Although people would have heard of UnionPay, many had difficulty understanding what it exactly is all about. Also, UnionPay’s grid is controlled by its headquarters in China.
The challenge was thus to let people know that UnionPay is not exclusively for China, but is actually a worldwide recognised payment gateway, including Singapore.
